WORLD CUP #3 - LEOGANG, AUSTRIA LEOGANG, Austria - JUNE 14, 2015 - Set amongst the beautiful mountains of the Alps, Austria hosted round #3 of the UCI World Cup this past weekend. Known as a popular bike park destination Leogang prepared the World Cup course with a few raw natural sections this year for added technical skill to balance out the high pace. Weather played a factor early on, with hail storms and massive downpours softening the soil for day 1 of practice, but with the hot temperatures and hundreds of riders, race day was dry and rough, setting the tone for an exciting race.
Jill Kintner had been having a strong season racing in North America, and decided to make the solo voyage over to Austria to challenge the World's best. She managed to qualify 5th, and ultimately finish on the podium for 5th at her first World Cup of the year.
JILL KINTNER - DH 5th "For me, this event had a lot of challenges to overcome , but ultimately I am really proud to have gone over there by myself, and accomplished a top 5 finish, right where I left off last season. My equipment is really good, which makes it easy, and I felt my speed was there, so I just had a lot of fun riding my bike and seeing where I was at.
